Selena L. Dunham is Principal of Classique, LLC, a Private Client Service Company. Classique, LLC is a full service company, offering training and consulting for individuals, corporations, business ventures, fundraising, political consulting and the etiquette of entertaining clients at work or in the home. The company also conducts international etiquette and protocol, extensive diversity training, facilitation of counter objectives, personnel placement services and assessment center training.
2012 Organizing for America- Colorado, the Campaign to Re-elect President Barack Obama
Ms. Dunham was appointed the Director of Human Resources and Administration for the campaign to re-elect President Barack Obama. Ms Dunham over saw the hiring process for over 400 employees which included personnel administration, employee relations, counseling, coaching and terminations for all departments in the Colorado Headquartered office. She also managed the Intern, Volunteer and supporter housing programs for the office. Ms. Dunham was one of two Human Resources and Administration Directors in the Country working for the Presidential campaign.
2008 Democratic National Convention Chief of Staff
Denver Convention Host Committee
Ms. Dunham was appointed the Chief of Staff with the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee, which planned and organized the 2008 Democratic National Convention. She directed and planned the training for 20,000 volunteers, and oversaw the staffing and procurement process needs for the entire Host Committee. The Host Committee ultimately raised over $60 million, with $55 million of the funds received as cash donations. She was a designated speaker for the Host committee for international, local, and regional business. With a strong community commitment, she is credited with using considerable skill to facilitate, negotiate and bring about inclusion for competing community groups for the Convention. All financial expectations and all operational goals were met, with the Denver Convention achieving the recognition as one of the “best conventions in modern times” and the most environmentally sustainable political convention in American history. The Convention achieved success around civic engagement, inclusiveness and sustainability, and bolstering Metro Denver’s reputation as a world-class urban center. The convention resulted in an estimated $266.1 million regional economic benefit to Metro Denver, of which $153.9 million occurred within the City and County of Denver.
International School Executive Vice President
Prior to forming Classique, LLC, Ms. Dunham managed the daily operations and staff for the International, Placement and Publishing Divisions of an international etiquette and protocol school. She negotiated training contracts for the school with the White House, Pentagon, U.S. military branches, private residences, upscale hotels and resorts. Additionally, she trained and developed curriculum for hotel and resort upper management staff, in service, etiquette, international diversity and protocol.
Adams Mark Hotel and Resorts Regional Director of Advertising and Promotions
In her leadership role for this world-class hotel chain, Ms. Dunham was responsible for the advertising, promotions and public relations for Colorado, Oklahoma, Missouri and 17 other properties. She successfully reduced advertising costs while keeping the hotel chain in compliance with the Department of Justice by increasing communication between corporate office and hotel properties, and helped to create and deliver a consistent brand message to consumers. In 2003, she was honored as one of the top 100 lodging industry executives in the country.
U.S. Congresswoman Diana DeGette Deputy District Director
In 1997, Ms. Dunham was Deputy District Director for U.S. Congresswoman Diana DeGette (d-Denver). She directed the Representative’s outreach efforts, and was the liaison for DeGette’s Race Relations Committee, frequently representing her at various meetings and providing assistance to numerous groups and individuals with federal issues that impacted their lives. With Representative DeGette, Ms. Dunham helped focus Congressional attention on neighborhood re-development projects in the district.
The Dunham Corporation President and Owner
Prior to Ms. DeGette’s staff, Ms. Dunham was the president and owner of the Dunham Corporation, a training company for promotional assessment center preparation and entry-level preparation training for over 1,000 police, fire, sheriffs and state patrol personnel for over 14 years.
Bank One Vice-President
Ms. Dunham served as Vice President of Bank One for six years supervising the bank’s community re-investment policy and was responsible for marketing management for seven banks totaling $1.5 billion in assets in the Denver Metro area.
Ms. Dunham is a 1993 alumna of the Graduate School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado at Boulder; she also attended the University of Maryland and the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a certified training instructor in behavioral sciences and community policing. In 2007, Ms. Dunham graduated from the University of Denver, Franklin L. Burns School of Real Estate & Construction Management, Daniels College of Business and Turner Construction Co.’s Construction Management Training Program.
Awards and Honors
Since 1990, Ms. Dunham has received numerous honors for her accomplishments, including selection as a “Business Leader to Watch” by the Rocky Mountain News. In 1997, she was named Business Woman of the Year by the Colorado Black Women for Political Action; she received the Christar Award for outstanding achievement in business and industry from the National Baptist Convention; and she received the Cherry Creek North/Mayor Webb Community Recognition award for her efforts in supporting diversity and in fighting hate and discrimination. In 2003, she received the Corporate Citizens Award from the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Dunham has also been listed in Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who of Women Executives.
Over the last 10 years, Ms. Dunham has served on over 100 different boards, actively pursuing her roles in each. Through community involvement, she strives to promote equality and excellence among countless groups, excelling in areas including politics, entrepreneurial growth and general human rights. She prides herself on cultural awareness, and continues her daily promotion of diversity in the workplace and the community.
Ms. Dunham is a member of the Colorado ACLU Board of Directors, a member of the Selective Service System Board in the State of Colorado, and a Board Member of the Institute of International Education -Rocky Mountain Region.
Franchell S. Dunham is the Chief Operating Officer with Classique, LLC. Franchell manages all of the day to day operations for the company. She brings to the company extensive strategic planning and leadership experience. Franchell, directs the educational test preparation for all public safety tests for entry level and promotional exams for public safety officers. She oversees the Business Development department for the company and manages all employees, instructors and contract labor. Franchell counsels military spouses on issues for deployed military service members . Franchell attended Metro State College in Denver, Colorado and Grambling State University in Grambling, LA. She majored in Meteorology with a Minor in Business.
